Chapter 10 (Video) is now online

When I think of Chapter 10, the phrase "eat the scroll" immediately comes to mind. This week I celebrate my 54th year of knowing the Lord. I said "yes" to God watching Billy Graham on television this week in June of 1968.

                                              Sweet and Sour

So, I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, ‘Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’  (Revelation 10:9)

So it is with the Word of God. We taste it. We may even go further and “eat it” – absorbing the Word of God into our very being, our lives and habits.  At first, it seems very agreeable to listen to those life-giving words – even delightful. But at some point, the Holy Spirit enhances the Word within us with the beautiful gift of conviction followed by repentance.

I had very little idea when I said “yes” to the Lord in June of 1968 what it would mean to take up the cross and follow Him.  I greatly enjoyed listening to Bible based sermons and teachings. I turned on the radio every night at 7 PM to listen to a certain Bible teacher. On Sunday evenings I would listen to another Bible teacher expound on the Book of Romans.  Truly, without exaggeration, the Word was sweet like honey to my spiritual appetite.

The Lord was patient with those parts of me that were self-centered.  But the time certainly came when He took the Word deeper inside my spirit-man and brought the much-needed correction and conviction. In time, I would learn that His work of conviction was not a negative thing – rather it was something designed with my best interests in mind. In my “stomach” (inner being) it turned sour until the work was completed. Repentance seems unpleasant at first – yet, it consistently yields a beautiful fruit that is well-worth a brief moment of discomfort.

(This passage in Revelation 10 has other applications as related to end time prophecies. My application here is a very personal one related to how I have experienced His Word over time.)

                                PROGRESS REPORT

I am currently working on the videos for chapters 11-17.  Once I reach Chapter 17 I will begin compiling "sections" of The Revelation Project into 3 Parts (Chapters 1-7,  8-17, 18-22)     Thanks for your prayers and support.
